Humorous criticitation of urban culture which reflects tradition

Tradition and cultural concepts are very often discussed subjects now days since the effects of the globalization. Cabaret Theaters are one of the place where have been chosen by the heroes who are face to be extinct in this time period. By using western theaters techniques, Cabaret Theater brings to traditional issues to present and it has created it?s own particular style. Therefore, Cabaret Theater which was set from the idea of Haldun Taner, can be evaluated as a result of the his ?expansion to global with particular properties? idea.There are many reasons why Devekuşu Cabaret Theater has been chosen as an example of this study. First, Devekusu Cabaret Theater has its own particular style by using combination of western theaters and traditional Turkish theaters. Second, it presented a lot of social and political events at Turkey in 80?s and 90?s. Last, It used these events as a tool of humors. Because of that reasons that mentioned above, it may be accepted that Devekusu Cabaret Theater has added a new breathe to the present theaters.This study is a beginning to read these kind of cultural products and to examine the transformation process such as Devekuşu Cabaret Theater which is grounded with tradition and modernity.Keywords:1.
