Özet (EN)

In this research the transformation process of a residencial area and its reflections on urban scale are investigated. The effects of that process, which firstly occured in West, have some consequences in Turkey. All these analysises are undertaken in chronological orders that are considered as the consequential changing periods for both the Western World and Turkey. Although Arjantin Avenue in Ankara has a history of approximately fifty years, its evolution has been highly influenced by the economical, political and social developments of Turkish Republic. The settlement formation, that occurs in the beginning of 50?s with the establishing of the parlementers housing, was replaced with the apartment buildings in 70?s with attracting the bussiness and service sector in this area. With the years of 90?s, that environment was turned into a demonstaration place of populer culture in the city through the settlement of luxery consumption products and leisure time activities here. In the thesis, all these transformation process is explicated within the framework of spatial, functional and social developments within the context of consumption of space.
