The quality of urban life in the process of urbanizm and the example of Antalya Yeşilbahçe quarter.

The quality of the urban life, is defined by the satisfaction of the citizens from the city and the fulfillment of the citizen expectations from the city councils. Researches on urban life quality has become more important lately and the number of the researches on this important topic has been increasing immensely everyday. The popularity of this topic is mainly due to the following reasons; the population of the cities is growing everyday, the number and the variety of the urban services are increasing due to the population growth and the needs and expectations of the citizens are increasing parallel to the increase in the services. In Turkey, urban life quality has not been defined as an important issue yet, because urban life quality is very new for Turkey both as a ?concept? and as a ?research topic?. The city councils have not been paying the necessary attentions to citizens? needs and rights. Therefore the primary necessities for urban life quality haven?t been maintained successfully. The urban life quality problems of the citizens can be solved and the urban life quality can be achieved by the following steps; deciding on the focused cities, defining the vital and primary problems on each city and taking necessary measures according to the results of the periodic urban life quality researches. When Antalya is diagnosed for urban life quality, the following results seem obvious; Antalya has urban life problems, the primary necessities for urban life quality haven?t been maintained and there are obstacles to achieve the urban life quality. Even though the individual citizens maintain life quality in their private lives, they certainly can?t achieve the urban life quality due to the city problems that occur apart from the individuals. In this content, the topic of this research is ?the urban life quality in the process of urbanism and the example of Antalya Yeşilbahçe Quarter?. The citizens of this quarter have maintained certain life quality thanks to their economic and education level. Therefore they also have high expectations on urban life quality.
