Abstract (EN)

Objective: The object of this research is to determine the attitudes towards early diagnosis of cervix cancer and perceptions of gynecological examination of women living in urban area. Method: This is a cross- sectional research. This study was conducted in a Family Health Center in Manisa with women in ages 30-65, who are / were sexually active (N:2873). Sampling of the study is found as 339 women with 95% confidence interval, 50% unknown prevalence, 5% error margin by using Openepi program. Socio-demographic and obstetric features, and perception for gynecological examination were evaluated with data collection form. Also early diagnosis of cervix cancer attitude scale was made filled. Number, percentage distribution, chi-square test and t test were used with SPSS 15.00 package program for evaluating of data of the research. Findings: Average age of the women who consist the study group is 38,7±6,52. It is determined that only 16,8 % of those women have regular gynecological examination. Attitudes of women for early diagnosis for cervix cancer scale sub-fields average scores were detected as 27,88 ± 3,71 for perception of sensitivity, 27,86 ± 3,38 for perception of seriousness, 21,00 ± ,.46 for barrier perception, 22,66 ± 2,66 for benefit perception. The average of total score of the scale is calculated as 99,38 ± 7,11. Conclusion: It can be said that the attitudes of women for early diagnosis of cervical cancer are at a moderate level.
