Özet (EN)

Cities are continuously changing and transforming dynamic entities. The process of change and transformation has created in the cities either structural deformation or loss of function or spaces that are losing both their structure and function. This study, prepared as a graduate study, is an attempt to define the lost space that emerged during the change and transformation processes in the cities. The theoretical framework of the study is composed of the structural-functional and the system approaches. Based on these approaches the relationship between city and lost space has been explained from the perspectives of the both structure-function and system approaches. According to this theoretical model ?lost space? is defined as the area existing in the anomy. The lost space has been analyzed through the example areas chosen from the Ankara city (AKM, Zafer Square and Iskitler Industrial Area), the chosen example areas have been debated through the projects put forward by the winter schools of 2007, 2008 and 2009 at Gazi University. Keywords :City, Space, Lost Space, Anomie, EWSAD, AKM: Hippodrome Area, Victory Square, İskitler Industrial Area
