Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Economy - Ecology Sensitive Planning Model and GIS for Determination of Urban Development Areas and Planning As a concequence of industrialization the rapid urbanization has been the main reason of deteriation of ecological, cultural environment and historical heritages. This process on the one hand, pushing people from nature who live in cities, on the other hand, causing the destruction of nature and ecological environment. The aim of this thesis is to inventigate and set for planning and application principles of urban system by governing urban system not being harmfull to the ecological issues and sustainability. The method employed in the thesis puts emphasis on the economic-ecological factors and suitability measures for determining potential development areas. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is employed in evalucation process of those factors. The difference between conventional planning and economic- ecological planning approaches by using GIS. In the introduction, present planning approaches and the arising environmental and planning problems are briefly explained such as urban ecology, sustainability, ecological planning principles. In the second chapter, study area and the aim of thesis defined, data varified, then the model has been run. In the third chapter, in the light of economic-ecological planning approaches alternatif macroforms and spatial distrubition paterns of population through 2017 and compared with existing urban pattern. In the fourth chapter, contribution of the propose method to urban development planning. In the fifth chapter, recommendations set for that thouse who use the method developed in thesis.
