Abstract (EN)

People's desire for green space has grown in the last two decades as a result of extensive urbanization and the elimination of natural areas from cities and daily life. As a result, research on the interaction between people and green space has intensified. The relationship between the accessibility of green spaces and the psychological well-being of green areas was needed to be explored in line with the thesis's goal due to increasing urbanization and the inadequacy of green areas. The center districts of Konya (Kartay, Meram, and Selçuklu) were chosen as the study region for the thesis. The survey approach for the thesis was designed after a thorough national and international literature assessment on the themes of urban green space, accessibility, and psychological well-being. The questionnaire was divided into four sections. Uses of urban green space, health, and psychological well-being are all part of demographic data. After analyzing the first three sections of the questionnaire separately, comparisons were performed with the Warwick-Edinburgh mental well-being scale calculations utilized in the psychological well-being section. The IBM Spss 22 program was used to evaluate the survey results. As a result of the analyses, meaningful results for the purposes of the research were obtained between the psychological well-being values of the individuals and their monthly income, the frequency of going to the urban green areas, the modes of transportation they used to get to the urban green areas, and the physical activity areas, within the framework of the answers given by the participants. While planning green areas in this manner in the city, it is vital to establish safe urban green areas that appeal to all age groups living in the city, where they can readily reach, and which will provide urban people with mental rest rather than merely urban aesthetics. Green space requirements should be considered a basic requirement in urban planning, and urban green space designs should be carried out within the framework of this requirement.
