Abstract (EN)
Otoplasty is the treatment of congenital or acquired deformities of the ear. The incidence of prominent ears has been reported as high as 5% and the most frequently congenital deformity in head and neck area. Over two hundred different techniques have been described to correct this deformity. The patient's age, the cartilage thickness and flexibility, the degree of protrusion are the keys for choosing the surgical method.Only one surgeon operated on 18 consecutive patients between December 2008 and September 2010 using the anterior scoring and posterior rolling technique. The success of this surgical technique was evaluated by objective and subjective methods. All patients were evaluated to auricle-mastoid angle, the distance from helix to mastoid apex in preoperative period, postoperative 1. month, 3. month and 1. year. Subjective evaluations were performed by the visual analog scale (VAS).The auricle ? mastoid angle, the distance from helix to mastoid apex and the VAS scores were compared with preoperatively and postoperatively. The results showed statistically significant changes in these values. In our study, anterior scoring posterior rolling surgical technique is effective, has a high patient satisfaction rate and a low complication rate.
