Kilisli Zihnî's Diwan glossary [Concordance and functional glossary]

Zihnî, who is known as one of the most powerful poets of the 19th century, grew up outside of Istanbul. Though he lived in a period when poetry literature started to lose its effect gradually, Zihnî produced a very voluminous work with his powerful pen. The purpose of our selection of the Mental Divinity as a subject is to contribute to the recognition and understanding of the Mental and to reveal the vocabulary of the poet by taking the studies about the poet to an advanced level. In his poems, Zihnî sometimes included discourses in daily language with the effect of the localization movement that started with Nedim in the 18th century, and sometimes he focused on Sufism issues with the influence of the Naqshbandi-tariqat sect. Although the poet used very few proverbs in his poems, he gave much space to idioms. The use of too many idioms by the poet is extremely important in terms of showing his command of the language. We saw that Zihnî placed proverbs and idioms as well as verses and hadiths that he used in his poems with great care in accordance with its meaning. It is thought that Kilisli Zihnî Dîvânı (Contextual Index and Functional Dictionary) will be an important source not only for literature studies but also for historical researches. Because the work sheds light on the cultural features and history of Kilis. These studies are of great importance in terms of reflecting the language characteristics and context world of the period in which the poet was raised and published his works, and would also be very useful for enlightening the mana world of classical literature.
