Özet (EN)

This thesis, which aims to scrutinize how social groups define "the self" and "the other" by situating the terms "sacred" and "profane" in describing their identities, focuses on Alevi-Bektashi communities. This study endeavores to show how Alevi-Bektashi communities describe in their own identities by intertwining, as another face of sacredness even, sacredness and various social and political categories such as ethnicity, lineage and politics which are used as components of their identity. Anchored in the idea that statements of identity discloses more explicitly in "language", this thesis focuses on the press published by Alevi-Bektashi community itself. In accordance with this purpose, the press published as of the last 1980s by authors from Alevi-Bektashi community who are also amateur reserchear, journalist, association and foundation director, is taken as research sample of this study.
