The effect of interpersonal sensitive education on empathy and communicaton skills of university students

This study aims to investigate the effect of interpersonal sensitivity training which is taken by university students as a lesson on empathy and communication skills. Other aim of the study is determinate either there are meaningful differences between the empathy and communication skills of the university students or not by the variants on the available evaluation form. Study is performed on 48 students of Gazi Osmanpaşa University, institute of sciences, child development program at 2016-2017 term. The used scales in the investigation are; name,surname,age,the education degree of the mother,whether mother or father works,number of the siblings,whether they think completing their deparmant to bachelor's degree,dwelling in which they mostly spend their lives. With the aim of obtaining information about these variants "Personel Evaluation Form" , with the aim of determining the levels of both empathy and communicaton skillsof students in both group "Communicaton Skills Evaluation Scale" developed by Korkut (1996b) and Emphatic Tendancy Scale developed by Dökmen (1998) were used. SPSS 17 program was used for analyze the obtained data. It was analyzed by Paired Samples Test and Independent Samples Test according to the normal distribution and homogeneity between variants. At the end of study, meaningful relationship is observed between interpersonal sensitivity training with empathy and communication skill levels. Besides, it is investigated that whether there is a meaningful difference among empathy and commucation skill levels with other independent variants which presented in personal examination form or not. Results of the study were discussed and made suggestions for further studies. Key Words; Empathy, Communicaton Skills, Interpersonal Sensitiveness
