Abstract (EN)
With the constant change of today's working life, the increasingly complex business relations, increasing uncertainty, big scandals in private and public institutions, increasing wrong and inaccurate practices, changes in organizational structures, forming different control mechanisms, the conflicts while sharing the scarce resources of the organization and the intensification of competition in the business world increase the pressure on the employees, thus the emergence of political behavior and whistleblowing (problem reporting) has been inevitable. Personality traits that define individual differences play an important role in the formation of the tendency of whistleblowing and political behavior of the employees. Since, the behavior of the employees who face similar situations in their work life varies within the organization. A large part of this difference is due to different personality traits. In addition, it was important to identify and reveal the personality characteristics of employees in organizations and to understand, explain and manage employee behaviors. The employees of the organization struggle to achieve what they want to the extent of their personality characteristics and they can exhibit political behavior to protect their own benefits and disclosure behavior to protect social benefits. Whether these behaviors are applied by employees or not, the frequency of their practice, if applicable, is influenced by the degree of acceptance of the ethical work climate. Employees practice a number of behaviors by associating the behaviors which they will exhibit in the organization with the ethical work climate they perceive. Political behaviors and whistleblowing behavior gain importance increasingly because of a combination of positive and negative characteristics for organizations and employees and being inevitable in the current working life. Furthermore, the lack of studies in the literature that examine the relationship between sociotropic-autonomous personality characteristics and political behavior and whistleblowing, and whether the perception of ethical work climate in this relationship mediates, increases the importance of this research. The main objective of this research is to evaluate and to deal with the role of perceived ethical work climate in the influence of sociotropic-autonomous personality traits on political behavior and whistleblowing. In this context, the conceptual framework of the research has been drawn by conducting a survey of local and foreign literature on the subject and the model of the research has been created in the light of the information obtained by the literature survey. The universe of the research consists of Turgut Özal Medical Center and private hospital health workers being active in Malatya province in Turkey. The sample of the research consists of 320 health workers. In this context, both public and private hospitals were officially authorized and survey work was carried out. According to the results from the analyses, the relationship between sociotropicautonomous personality characteristics and political behaviors was determined to be statistically significant. It was proven that the relationship between SociotropicAutonomous Personality Characteristics and whistleblowing has no meaning however it was found that there was a statistically significant relationship between whistleblowing and disapproval anxiety, which is the lower dimension of sociotropic personality characteristics. It was determined that Ethical Work Climate Perception has no mediating role to the relationship of political behaviors and whistleblowing behaviors of Sociotropic-Autonomous Personality Characteristics.
