Protection of the child's personal data within the scope of the law on the protection of personal data

While we have a fundamental legislation ensuring the privacy and protection of personal data, there isn't a specific legislation dedicated to the protection of children's personal data. Instead, attempts have been made to safeguard children's data by referencing relevant articles within our fundamental legislation. The increasing threat to the privacy of children's data, coupled with tightened legal requirements for safeguarding personal data, is expanding the boundaries of this issue. The aim of this study is to evaluate the protection of children's personal data. It intends to analyze legal regulations concerning the protection of children's personal data and different methods of collecting and processing such data at the national level by drawing from international examples. This thesis, which addresses this subject, first delves into the fundamental principles and theory of data protection law. The historical development of personal data, basic legal principles, and fundamental regulations regarding the protection of personal data constitute the subject matter of the first section. The second section explores why there's a specific need for the protection of children in national and international law, potential personal data breaches concerning children, who might perpetrate such breaches, and legal remedies for these violations. Building upon these topics, practices, measures, and processes in foreign legal systems are discussed alongside a general assessment within our legal framework, incorporating personal opinions. The relevant institutions and judicial decisions made in national and international law, the solutions of the relevant authorities are summarized and personal opinions are included.
