Özet (EN)
The genus Echinococcus are small-structured cestodes belonging to the Taeniidae family. Echinococcus granulosus causes hydatid cyst disease in the small intestine of dogs and canines in adult form and settling to the various organs of various mammals especially herbivores such as sheep and cattle and human in the form of larvae. By taking the respiratory or digestion by goat, sheep, cattle and human the parasite eggs thrown to the external environment cause infection. Tests such as indirect hemagglutination test (IHA), Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA) and immunochromatographic tests are used in the diagnosis of echinococcus. In our study, we aimed to evaluate and compare the indirect hemagglutination and immunochromatographic methods among the patients who admitted to Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital with suspicion of hydatid cyst. Samples sent to Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine Serology Laboratory for the investigation of echinococcal antibody between 01.11.2018-31.01.2019 were included in our study. These samples were studied with Echinococcal IHA method (Hydatidose fumoze Echinococcosis fumouze) and echinococcal immunochromatographic method (Vircell virapid hydatidosis). 75 patients sample were included in the study. 48 of the patients (64%) were female, 27 were (36%) male and the mean age of the patients was 42.0800±17.72672). 36 of the patients (48%) determined as positive and 39 (52%) negative by echinococcus IHA method. 34 of the patients (45.3%) determined as positive, 41 (54.7%) negative by echinoccus immunochromatographic method. Two patients determined as positive by IHA method found as negative by immunochromatographic method. Both methods yielded similar results and sensitivity of the immunocrotographic method was lower in the study. While 34 (94.4%) of 36 patients who were detected positive by echinococcal IHA method were also detected as positive by immunochromatographic method, all the 39 (100%) patients were detected as negative by immunochromatographic method.
