Abstract (EN)

In our country the researches on Anglicanism have examined, generally, the history and the structure of the Church of England, but the issue of English Bible which is so important for the history of the Church and liturgy, has been neglected. However worship and doctrine in the Anglican Church was established on the Prayer Book and King James Version. "King James Version of the Bible" which occupies a significant place in the Anglican Church was studied with historical, religious, literary and cultural aspects in our dissertation. King James Version became uniform and unique translation in England and also English-speaking world almost for three hundred years. Although it has passed four hundred years since the first publication, this version is still one of the best seller biblical translations in England and the USA. Our research is consist of three main sections. In the first section we have handled the history of pre-King James Version biblical translations, their specialities and cultural background of the Reformation era. In the second section we investigated translating and translators of King James Version, principal features of the translation and also its influences on religious and cultural life, and literature. In the third section we made canonical and textual comparison of King James Version with Turkish Bible. Keywords: King James Version, Bible, Anglican Church, Reformation, Translation.
