Özet (EN)
This study aimed to produce chitosan-based particle sorbents and evaluate their sorption efficiency, based on the fact that chitosan is a positively charged hydrophilic polymer. In the first step of the study, the production of chitosan-based polymeric particles was carried out by precipitation-collection method and characterized. For this purpose, SEM and FTIR analyses were used. The sorption activities of chitosan-based polymeric particles were investigated using reactive dyestuff (Astrazon golden yellow, AGY). The effect of various sorption parameters (temperature, initial pH value, amount of sorbent, initial dyestuff concentration, contact time, etc.) on the sorption efficiency of dye molecules was investigated. And optimum sorption conditions were determined. The optimum solution temperature, initial pH, amount of chitosan, contact time, and initial AGY dye concentration were 25 °C, 7 ± 0.02, 0.2 g/L, 180 min, and 75 mg/L respectively. The sorption capacities at 25, 30, 35, and 40 ℃ were determined as 207.40, 293.35, 314.79, and 330.96 mg/g, respectively. Experimental results were evaluated by applying Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich's (DR) isotherm models. It was observed that the obtained data better fit with the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum sorption capacity (qmax) was calculated as 196.06 mg/g. In the study, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic model equations were used to calculate kinetic parameters. It has been determined that the pseudo-second model is more suitable for explaining the experimental data. It has been concluded that the chitosan particles maintain their physical stability under the specified sorption conditions and are a suitable sorbent for reactive dyestuff removal.
