Özet (EN)
Ceramic art and its products have penetrated in our lives to such an extent that we use them as daily objects, but also we see them as objects of different significance, such as tombstones or sarcophaguses. In almost every geographical location or time period, we see a strong and sustained belief in life after death. Klazomenai is one of the most important cities of Ionia in terms of ceramic production. Due to the commercial trades with other major cities and cultures, we see the production of sarcophaguses made of clay rather than wood or stone. Because the sarcophaguses were, in fact, too big to fit in the usual kilns, new firing techniques had to be developed, which still continue to inspire new techniques and applications in today?s ceramic art.
