Özet (EN)

In the present study, general geomorphological characteristics applied geomorphology of Kılıçözü brook downriver basin were scrutinized. Kılıçözü River is located in the middle section of the Kızılırmak Basin. The basin was bordered by Naldöken Mountain (1516 m) in the west and Kervansaray Mountain (1679 m) in the east. Since the upper part of Kılıçözü River Basin is plain in geomorphological terms, downstream basin was evaluated in this study. Mountainous areas, plateaus and valleys are the main geomorphological units in the area of interest. It embodies different geological formations "Kırşehir Massif" is of Paleozoic foundation. In the higher elevations of the tertiary there was significant erosion and the eroded material accumulated in the basin floor. Following that period, it was extremely eroded and flattened. Thus, rigid massif structures preserved its mountainous characteristics in the plateaus. Kılıçözü downriver basin is experiencing serious problems due to its geomorphological, geological and climatic characteristics. Primary among these issues considered within the realm of applied geomorphology are earthquakes, floods and overflows that affect Kırşehir, and erosion. Solutions are proposed for these problems determined within the context of land works. Keywords: Kırşehir, Kılıçözü brook downriver basin, massif, Applied geomorphology.
