Abstract (EN)
General Informations: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is cause of mortality and morbidity all around world. Influenza and pneumococcal disease are the main reasons most part of hospitalization and mortality because of COPD. This study shows that the rates of hospitalization and mortality decrease in the COPD patients who get pneumococcal and influenza vaccines. Hence vaccination is cost-effective and lifesaving approach. Aim: The aim of this study is that finding out the rates of pneumococcal and influenza vaccination in COPD patients and the facts of vaccination in COPD and the reasons of not vaccinated. Meterial and Method: This study carried out between February 2019 and May 2019 in Abant Izzet Baysal University Medical Faculty Department of Pulmonary Diseases. The study was conducted from 104 patients diagnosed COPD by a pulmonologist. In this study,under %70 both female and male patients were included into research by SFT level FEV1/FVC based on the report of GOLD 2019(there is no exclusion criteria used in this research). Firstly, the patients' socio demographic attributes were questioned.Secondly, the patients were inquired either they got influenza vaccine in the recent year or they got pneumococcal vaccine in the last 5 years. So the patients who had been vaccinated were inquired that the way they took cognizance of the necessity of getting vaccine. On the other hand this study explains the reasons of the patients who had not been vaccinated. Finally, the study deduces new informations about relation of COPD and influenza and pneumococcal vaccines from all the data acquired from research. Conclusion: This study reveals statistical difference between COPD levels and aware of necessity of getting influenza vaccine every year (p=0,019). However, there is no significant difference between COPD levels and influenza vaccinated in the recent year (p=0,434). In the data, no significant difference was observed between COPD levels and pneumococcal vaccinated in the last 5 years and aware of necessity of getting pneumococcal vaccine (p=0,0559 and p=0,495). While %22,2 of the patients who had got pneumococcal vaccine in the last 5 years also got influenza vaccine,%98,7 of the patients who had not got pneumonia vaccine in the last 5 years did not get influenza vaccine in the recent year either. %85,7 of the patients who got influenza vaccine in the recent year also know necessity of getting influenza vaccine every year (p=<0,001). Any one who got pneumonia vaccine in the last 5 years knows the necessity of getting pneumonia vaccine as well (p<0,001). Results: This study shows that most of the patients who got influenza vaccine in the recent year also know the necessity of getting influenza vaccine every year.Furthermore, all the patients who got pneumonia vaccine in the last 5 years know the necessity of getting pneumococcal vaccine. Most of the patients who had not got pneumonia vaccine in the last 5 years did not get influenza vaccine either. Key Words: COPD, vaccine, pneumococcus, influenza
