Özet (EN)

In this study it was aimed to determine the effects of individuals' health believes on their attitudes toward the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer. The study was carried out between November 2013 and February 2014 with individuals between 50 and 70 years of age who were registered at Alpaslan Family Health Center (No.5) Bayraklı county of Izmir and who referred to Family Health Center for examination due to any types of health problems. As a data collection tool "Socio-demographic Data Form" and "Health Belief Model Scale for Protection from Colorectal Cancer" were used. Research data were evaluated on SPSS (Statical Package for Social Science for Windows) 15.0. In descriptive analysis during the evaluation of socio-demographic variables the number and percentage dispersion, average and standard deviation were utilized. In one variate analyses parametric (Student t Testi, One Way ANOVA) and nonparametric tests (Mann Whitney U Test, Krusskall Wallis Test) were used.As a result of research it was determined that participants' rates of taking place in early colorectal cancer screening were considerably low; their health behaviors and health beliefs were insufficient to participate in screening. Training and support programs that will enable individuals to involve in early screening studies should be developed.
