Abstract (EN)
This thesis presents an optimization study on steel-concrete composite floors using the Jaya algorithm, which is a metaheuristic optimization approach. In this study, single-span (simply supported) composite slabs consisting of steel I profile and concrete slab, which are made to work together with capped steel anchors, are examined. For the structural design of steel-concrete composite floors, the Regulation on the Design, Calculation and Construction Principles of Steel Structures (2016) is considered. Depending on this regulation, the constraints of the optimization problem are the strength of the non-composite slab during construction, the strength of the composite slab, the evaluation of all deflections occurring in the system, as well as the criteria for the strength and placement of the steel anchors. The objective function is calculated as the cost of the composite floor, which includes the cost of the concrete slab, steel beam, and steel anchors. In order to reach the optimum solution, six different parameters, namely concrete strength, concrete thickness, steel beam profile section, steel beam spacing, steel anchor diameter, and number of steel anchors in a beam were taken as design variables in the study. For the optimization, a software that includes structural sizing steps is coded using the Jaya algorithm. The results obtained were compared by optimizing the samples taken from real composite flooring application projects and academic literature using the prepared software. In order for these comparisons to be fully compatible, the constraints in the software are adapted similarly to the ones in the related problem, depending on the problem being compared. As a result of the comparisons, it has been seen that steel-concrete composite floors can be successfully optimized using the Jaya algorithm.
