Abstract (EN)

In this study, formability of composite sandwich panels have been investigated using deep drawing method. In this process, three different punches having diameter of 22, 32 and 42 mm were used. The blanks were prepared from sandwich panel whose both side has aluminum sheet thickness of 0.5 mm and polyethylene material thickness of 3 mm between two aluminum sheets. These composite panels were obtained from Alucobond Firm. R0, R45 and R90 uniaxial tension specimens and blanks were prepared from those panels. Deep drawing tests were conducted on 80 tons hydraulic press with constant punch velocity of 4.95 mm/s. There were no fractures up to the 10 mm punch stroke. When the punch stroke is conducted 10 mm or further, the lower aluminum layer of the blank has been fractured while polyethylene material has been fractured at 30 mm punch stroke.Consequently, according to the given die design and geometry, these panels can be deep drawn with a maximum 10 mm drawing height without any failure. Keywords: Drawing Height, Deep Drawing, Punch
