Özet (EN)

The main prupose of this stdy is to determine how work-life balance or imbalance may affect the quality of working life in hospitality organizations. Literature survey has been made initially which provides secondary data to be analyzed. Two research areas, Turkey and TRNC (Turkish republic of Nothern Cyprus), were chosen for the field research. Data gathered through structured questionnaire was analyzed by the means of descriptive statistics, hypotheses tests and multivariate statistical tests like SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). With the stated and tested hypotheses, work-life balance, quality of working life, stress and emotional exhaustion perceptions and the significant differences among these have been tested. Also, a model has been proposed and accordingly mediation effect of some variables has been tested with the causal relationships and the strength of these relationships. Consequently, Turkish hospitality employees are more positive than the TRNC employees, in terms of work-life interactions, emotional exhaustion and organizational stress perceptions and intention to leave. TRNC employees are more satisfied with quality of their working life. Full mediation effect of emotional exhaustion has been occurred through the work-life dimensions and quality of working life interaction. In the occasion of imbalance between work and life, emotional exhaustion has been come out initilally, and it affects the working life quality subsequently. The imbalance in personal life and its interaction between work life may lead to emotional exhaustion and organizational stress.
