Innovation Management in Accommodation Establishments

In the increasingly competitive modern world, the organisations target asustainable competitive advantage through product differentiation. The conceptof innovation is gaining importance in this process as a tool for competition.Due to their structures, accommodation establishments have uniquequalities and therefore claim much importance thanks to the effects they areable to create on the local and international stage. The continuation of theiroperation is also important for the national economy, since they generate animportant section of our tourism receipts. In the micro level, the sustainablecompetitive advantage of an accommodation establishment creates satisfactionfor the organisation, the workforce and the guests.In the national and international literature review, a current anddetailed research on innovation and innovation management in accommodationestablishments is not detected. The main aim of this thesis, which also aims tofill this void, is to state how the theoretical innovation sources, innovation types,innovation management components are applied in practice in accommodationestablishments in the sense of management and operation, why and what kindsof innovations are done and what the innovations are.In order to test and detail the knowledge achieved in theory, the researchis based on the hotels of Özbek Turizm (Nippon Hotel, Point Hotel Taksim,Point Hotel Barbaros), with a reputation for the innovations they conduct. Inthe research, it is aimed to reach an answer to ?what is happening?, gain deeperknowledge on the subject and understand the subject on different dimensions.In the research, the innovation works conducted in the mentioned hotels, whichhave fully outsourced their human resources functions for the first time inTurkey, are studied.As a result, first ? time innovations in both Turkey and the world athotels are established and made an exemplary case of successful innovationimplementation.Keywords: Accommodation Establishments, Innovation Management, Hotel
