Abstract (EN)
Water, which is indispensable for the vital activities of all living things, is used by humans for drinking water, irrigation, energy and industrial purposes. The water used for such purposes is polluted by human beings. It is imperative that these polluted water be made available from scratch. There are many parameters showing water quality. The most important of these is the amount of oxygen it contains. Increasing the amount of oxygen in the water is possible by aeration. Aeration of water can be done by using various water constructions and hydraulic principles. Aeration by head conduits is an example of this. The high velocity flow provided by the pressure conduits involves the air-water mixture flow. The air inflow is due to the balance of the low pressure with the atmospheric pressure, which is caused by the increasing speed of the constriction resulting from the conduit cover. A large number of bubble-like airflow entrained air allows aeration downstream and thus increases aeration efficiency. In this study, it was aimed to provide air inflow to a downstream pool using head conduit for aeration of water. In addition, three different water elevations were formed on the water jet entering the downstream pool to provide submerged flow conditions. For this purpose, the effect of conduit length, water flow to the system, contraction rates of conduit gate and depth of the downstream pool were investigated in this experimental system. The results show that the aeration and air bubbles of the subject parameters investigated in circular cross section pressure conduits are very effective for entering the system.
