Combined application of quality capability evaluation and failure mode and effect analysis technique in apparel sector

Organizations need to produce quality products that can meet customer demands and expectations at the lowest cost; therefore, they can sustain their presence in the global marketplace, which is currently under severe competition. 11.74% of total import share of Turkey is apparel products, in order for the companies in this industry to succeed in the international market, it became compulsory to produce quality products in accordance with constantly changing customer demands and standards. Within the scope of this study, studies have been carried out to prevent quality deficiency and to improve the quality in med-sized garment company. For this purpose, Failure mode and effects analysis method and Process Capability method were used. The Failure Mode and Effects Analysis method is an engineering technique which recognizes and evaluates the effects that can be caused by errors by making a number of analyzes of all potential failures that may be observed in the process and therefore targeting the errors to be eliminated before reaching the customer while Process Capability Analysis a metric that measures the competency of being able to be made between acceptable specification limits in accordance with standards. With the application made within the scope of the study, the quality level in the organization, quality problems and the issues that need to be improved were determined and suggestions were made.
