Speaking of books prepared for the training of voice and sound scientific views a review of the informational

Speech is transmission of thoughts to the listener through oral language. Although communication options in a wide variety has become available for humanity with the development in technology, the speech is still the most practical, the most common communication tool. The speech has a social quality with the power to influence the masses as well as its other functions such as expressing of thoughts and communicating. The pioneering occupational groups such as philosophers, scientists, leaders and teachers has enlighted the future with an effective speech.Fluent and effective speech depends on gaining capability in this area. This capability can only be gained with elocution. The books in this area are the most important sources for elocution. To have a correct pronunciation, sounds of language and rules about interaction among these sounds should be well known. So, books for elocution should teach correct pronunciation to the readers based on sound properties. However, there are essential dissensions among books about this subject. Considering these dissensions, this work has been prepared to draw attention to the uncertainty about correct use of Turkish.In this study, the model of descriptive scan was used. The books which were supposed to explain ideally phonetic guide-phonology and the area of elocution were carefully analyzed and compared. When the findings were examined, it was understood that there was not a naming and classification unity from the point of vowel, consonant and sound events between the books of phonetic guide-phonology and elocution. On the other hand, the books of elocution describe that phonetic change is a pronunciation mistake while the books of phonetic guide-phonology defend that it is acceptable. Additionally, when the books of elocution were compared with eachother, it was realized that different pronunciations were accepted as correct for a word and it was concluded that the books of elocution were insufficient in terms of explaining ideally the sound properties of Turkish. Considering this result, it is thought that this work will enlighten the preparation of books about elocutin and academic studies in this area.Key Words: phonetic, phonology, elocution, pronunciation.
