Abstract (EN)
The main aim of this research is to analyse and evaluate the effects of design parameters such as orientation, U value of the envelope, ratio of the exposed wall to window area, total exposed area of the envelope, vertical zoning, enclosing balconies to act as a buffer zone and unheated flats on the heating load of residential blocks. Each twin block with different orientation on the site has the same plan, envelope and construction system on four storeys and a ground floor covering twenty flats with individual heating systems.Building energy performance simulation are carried by means of ECOTECT 5.5 V.Elevations of heating loads depending on simulations, reveals that south orientation, decreased envelope area and U value, decreased window area towards north, west and east while relatively increased area towards South, enclosed balconies being located on middle floors decrease heating load of the flat. Not only the insulation of envelope but also the insulation between flats and all heated and unheated zones carry great importance for blocks with flats have individual heating system. The evaluation of how computer simulation programs give prominent foresights to the designer in the early stages of determining energy efficiency has been performed using the feedbacks from ECOTECT.Science Code: 804.1.040Key Words: Energy efficiency, Heating load, ECOTECTPage Number: 129Adviser : Prof. Dr. Gönül UTKUTUĞ
