Relationship between responce to treatment and quality of life in psoriatic arthritis patients who recived conventional and biological treatment

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA), is an psoriasis associated inflammatory arthritis often leading to significant functional disability and impaired quality of life. PsA, causes an increase in symptoms of anxiety and depression also self-esteem deterioration because of skin involvement and arthritis. In this study from the year 2010 patient history, physical examination and laboratory findings SF-36, HAD, the Rosenberg self-esteem scales survey used. 81 patients without concomitant disorders other than rheumatic disease were included ın our study. The average age of patients was 46.41 (± 10.16) years. %50.6 percent of patiens were male and %49.4 was female. 49 of patients were taking DMARD tretament while other had been treated by anti- TNF.Threre were no significant differences between DMARD and anti TNF gruops in demographic characteristics, social habits, sedimantation rate and CRP values.Anti-TNF treatment groups was statistically significant lower depression (p = 0.001) and anxiety (p = 0.007) rates when compared to DMARD grup. We also found that anti-TNF group has higher scores on SF-36 scale . We did not find a statistically significant differance between two gruops in assessmentof self esteem.We found that the patients who did?nt have depression and anxiety symptoms, had statistically significantly higher scores in SF-36 scales and they had better self esteem than the patients who has depresion and anxiety symtoms.In our study, we did?nt find a significant difference between DMARDs and anti-TNF groups in terms of disease activity. Patients with low disease activity, had better points in self-esteem and SF-36 scales and they also had fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression.
