Abstract (EN)
The conservation of cultural heritage subject, which is a source of many topics from the social life of a city, societies and civilizations to its economy, from culture to technical background, has been accepted throughout the world and in Turkey as well. What type of buildings should be preserved in the intellectual development of the concept of conservation is still a matter of debate. Industrial heritage is also one of these topics of discussion, especially which industrial buildings are worth to preserving. In the context of these discussions, the conceptual background of the subject was prepared by examining the evaluations of cultural heritage, industrial heritage and conservation within the thesis. International and domestic reference examples related to the reuse of industrial heritage were examined related to conceptual background. The reference examples are exemplified under three main headings: re-functioning in large industrial basins, re-functioning at the scale of single building, and new proposals for replacing all collapsed structures. Konya, which is one of our leading provinces in terms of industrial production, the industrial history goes back to the Late Ottoman periods. During the thesis, it was determined that Konya is rich in industrial heritage, although it is not widely known today. Because of expert interviews who are in the position of researcher and decision maker on cultural heritage preservation, it was observed that industrial heritage of Konya is not well known in experts level. In the conclusion part of the thesis study, evaluations were made in the context of cultural heritage, industrial archeology and conservation suggestions for the examples identified based on expert evaluations by the researcher.
