Social and religious life in the county of Yalıhüyük/ Konya

The research which aims to contribute to determine with objective criteria the religious life, behaviors and attitudes of people who live in the township Yalıhüyük and the dimensions of belief, worship, knowledge, experience and impress of piety in this area consists an introduction and three part/chapter and a conclusion. It is given information about its subject, purpose, methods and the hypothesis of thesis/research in the introduction.The first part is titled ?Religion and Society?. In the subtitle, the nature of the concept of religion and the problem of its description, descriptions of piety, dimensions of piety or typologies of piety and relations religion-society were discussed one by one.In the second part, discoveries of social life on the county of Yalıhüyük where our thesis focused on were analyzed. Firstly, information about the general characteristic of our region was given; then factual situations of participators in our research were determined and their attitudes on social relations, the data on practice of mass media and practice of their free time were being tried to determine.The third part is the main application of our research. There, dimensions belief, worship, experience, knowledge and influence of piety were discussed with different variables; the related data of faithfulness to religious beliefs, attitudes of religious practice and the data about effects of religion on social life in terms of levels religious knowledge were analyzed. Thus, the religious life of model group was clarified.In the epilogue/conclusion, the county of Yalıhüyük which is scope of our research, it was said that different attitudes and behaviors concerned with religious beliefs at the vicinity were affected from modernization which has ongoing different features and forms in our country and the urbanization and the social-cultural change. But it was showed that this situation is still continuing largely in the traditions structure concerned with attitudes and behaviors of religious life; in addition to this, it was expressed that it is still changing the traditional structure relative to various factors.Keywords: Religion, Society, Piety, Religious Life.
