Özet (EN)

Since atopic dermatitis, the itchy skin disease affecting dogs worldwide, is not curable, lifelong treatment management plans must be developed. To effectively manage this disease, it is necessary to reduce the level of itching, treat secondary infections, control reinfections and improve the skin barrier. Topical treatment plays an important role in this process but has always been seen as an adjunct to systemic antibiotics. Shampoo application is effective to support treatment. In this study, a shampoo formulation was developed using horsetail (Equisetum arvense L.) extract, bay (Laurus nobilis L.) leaf extract, birch (Betula pendula Roth) leaf extract, chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla var. recutita (L.) Fiori) extract, nettle (Urtica dioica L.) extract, green tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) extract, aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) extract, tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia (Maiden&Betche) Cheel) oil and neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) oil. The shampoo has been developed for atopic dermatitis in dogs and is effective in care as well as cleansing effect. Characterisation and quality control tests of the developed shampoo were carried out and findings about the suitability and stability of the formulation were determined.
