Özet (EN)

This study was assessed to determine the push and pull resistance values of callus by biomechanical as a result of administration of autogenous cortical and spongious grafts for treating the bone defects, one of the biggest problems in orthopedics surgery. In this study, 12 female dogs from various races, weights changing between 25-30 kg and ages changing between 2-3 have been used. Under general anesthesia, a segmental defect about 0,7 cm was formed in a randomize selected radius of dogs. The defects formed have been filled with autogenous spongious bone graft in 6 dogs and with autogenous cortical bone graft in 6 dogs. The lameness seen in whole cases for the first two weeks has totally dissapeared in the examinations afterwards. Euthanasia has been applied to animals at the end of the 2., 4. and 6. months and the radiuses which graft applied have been removed and the push and pull tests were performed. At the end of the mechanical tests performed the results showed that the push and pull values of the autogenous spongious bone grafts were higher than the push and pull values of the autogenous cortical bone grafts. As a conclusion, the push and pull resistance of the autogenous spongious bone grafts were determined higher than the push and pull resistance of the autogenous cortical bone grefts and as results show the autogenous spongious bone grafts are more advantageous than the autogenous cortical bone grafts. Keywords: Autograft, Cortical graft, Cancellous graft, Pull test, Push test
