Özet (EN)

This thesis examine all the structural changes that the horn has undergone from its origins in prehistoric times to the present day and the usage process in classical music orchestras within the music history periods by reviewing the literature in detail. It also examines the musical periods in which the horn has gone through these changes in terms of general characteristics starting from the Middle Ages to adequately describe horn usage in orchestras over the years. Each chapter introduces the general aspects of the music history period, the structural changes of horn in that period and the composers' preferences to use the horn in that period's orchestral works under separate headings. The horn, which was first used as a communication tool and gained new features, particularly after the Middle Ages, has started to occur in orchestras as of the Baroque Period and became an essential member of the orchestra in the Classical Period. Furthermore, many concertos, sonata, and similar works were composed for the horn, which drew interest as a soloist instrument.
