Abstract (EN)
This descriptive study was conducted to determine the anxiety of patients undergoing coronary angiography and their perception of nursing care before and after the procedure. The data were collected in the angiography unit of the cardiovascular hospital of a city hospital located in the Central Anatolia Region between April and July 2022. The sample of the study consisted of 58 patients who agreed to participate in the study, were older than 18 years of age, could read and write Turkish, did not have any psychiatric or mental illness, did not have any communication problems, underwent coronary angiography for the first time, and were not health professionals. "Patient Introduction Form", "State-Trait Anxiety Inventory" and "Patient's Perception of Nursing Care Scale" were used to collect the data. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Patient's Perception of Nursing Care Scale were repeated both before and after the procedure. The data were analysed using SPSS 21 package programme. 62.1% of the participants were male, 43.1% were 60 years of age or older, 55.2% were primary school graduates, 34.5% were retired, and 84.5% were married. The mean State-Trait Anxiety Scale scores were 42.26±5.38, 49.16±6.78 before the procedure and 41.69±5.15, 48.03±7.24 after the procedure, respectively. The mean score of the Patient's Perception of Nursing Care Scale before the procedure was 71.22±6.11, and the mean score after the procedure was 71.97±4.76. As a result, it was observed that the patients experienced moderate anxiety in terms of mean state and trait anxiety scores before and after the procedure. It can be said that patients' perception of nursing care was high both before and after the procedure. In line with these results, it is recommended that individuals should be cared for with a nursing process approach, their health status should be continuously monitored and their care should be re-planned according to their changing needs, evidence-based studies on this subject should be increased, patients' anxiety levels and satisfaction should be evaluated with appropriate scales, and appropriate plans should be made according to the results.
