The Relationship Between Endothelial Lipase Gene Polymorphisms (LIPG) and Inflammation Markers in Persons with Coronary Arter Disease Coroner Artery Disease (CAD) is a complex disease, which is the leading cause of mortality in many populations and is caused by various genetic and environmental factors. Endothelial lipase (EL) is a lipase which is secreted by endothelial cells. Overexpression of endothelial lipase reduces HDL cholesterol levels, otherwise lack of endothelial lipase increases HDL cholesterol levels. By this effect EL; playing a critical role in regulating the levels of HDL cholesterol decides initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. 88 Patients with atherosclerosis and 88 healthy individuals were included in the study. In plasma samples, the levels of interleukin-6, interleukin-10, endothelial lipase and hsCRP were evaluated by ELISA. Endothelial lipase gene polymorphism (LIPG) was determined by the PCR method. The frequencies EL -584 C/T genotypes were detected as ; CT 34 (%38,6), CC 51 (%58,0), TT 3 (%3,4) in the control group and as CT 52 (%59,1), CC 34 (%38,6), TT 2 (%2,3) in the patient group. When comparing coronary artery disease and the control group in terms of demographic characteristics; age and total cholesterol levels in coronary artery group were increased (p <0.001), whereas smoking, systolic blood pressure, and LDL cholesterol levels were decreased (p<0.05), and the differences were found statistically significant. Gender, diastolic blood pressure, hypertension, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, and VLDL cholesterol levels were not found statistically significant between the groups. Plazma EL, IL-10, IL-6 and hsCRP levels in the patient group compared with the control and coronary artery; IL-10, IL-6 and hsCRP levels were determined statistically significant (p <0.05). There were statistically significant difference in plasma EL levels.(p>0.05). To sum up; we suggest that EL -584 C/T gene polymorphism is a important parametre the evaluating of coronery artery diseases and the follow up of prognasis and clarifiyng of genetic background.
