Abstract (EN)

Cardivascular diseases have increasing incidence and prevelance day by day. These diseases are leading cause of mortality and morbidity. Although important advances in, diagnostis and therapeutic interventions, cardiovascular diseases are stil major cause of deaths. According to various studies, drug and xenobiotic metabolisms vary from patient to patient and from community to community. Beta blockers are major drugs for cardiovascular diseases and are being methabolised by CYP2D6 system. Drug side effects are more common among the patients with slow CYP2D6 metabolic activity. İnsufficient therapy due to the fast metabolism of drugs are common among people with ultra fast CYP2D6 metabolic activity. İnvestigations of gene polymorphisms of drug metabolism systems are important; because they have effects on coronary artery disease pharmacotherapy. İn this study we aimed to investigate the relationship between CYP2D6 gene polymorphism and beta blocker usage in coronary artery disease.
