Fasting glucose, lipid parameters and evaluation of left ventricular diastolic function in patients with coronary slow flow

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between the fasting glucose, lipid profile and diastolic dysfunction among patients with coronary slow flow (CSF) and with normal coronary artery (NCA) has been investigated. Therefore 50 patients with coronary slow flow, whose myocardial ischemia was determined by stress test or myocardial perfusion scintigraphy, were included in this study. The control group consisted of 50 patients with normal coronary artery. The patients who had their angiographies in other hospitals and the patients with, left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVEF<%40), severe heart valve disease, hemodynamically significiant arrhythmias, previous history of revascularization, cardiomyopathy, acute coronary syndrome and chronic renal insufficiency (serum Cr> 2,0 mg/dl) were excluded from the study . Fasting glucose and lipid profile of all the patients were evaluted and diastolic functions were assessed using pulse and tissue Doppler imaging. Triglyceride levels were higher and HDL cholesterol levels were lower in patients with coronary slow flow compared to the control group with normal coronary artery. (p ? 0,05) At the echocardiographic evaluations, there was no statistically significant difference of the diastolic function parameters in patients with coronary slow flow compared to the control group of normal coronary artery. In conclusion, our findings suggest that high triglyceride and low HDL cholesterol levels are associated with coronary slow flow. The limitations of the study are its retrospective nature and the small number of patients included.
