Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of nano graphene doping and different layer arrays on the mechanical properties and buckling behavior of basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) and glass fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) hybrid composites were investigated. Composites made in combinations of (C)15, (B)15, (CBC)15 and (BCB)15 with pure epoxy and 0.3% graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) additive were produced by hand lay-up method and using vacuum bag. Tensile and buckling tests were performed at room temperature (25±3 °C) in accordance with ASTM standards. Instron 3369 tension-compression device was used for the tests and the tests were carried out at a speed of 2 mm/min. Tensile strengths and modulus of elasticity were calculated from the results of tensile tests. Critical buckling stresses were calculated by obtaining stress and strain graphs from the results of the Buckling tests. Water absorption were measured and the corrosion effect was evaluated by keeping them in saltwater with 6 wt% NaCl concentration for 60 days in 15-day periods. Damage mechanisms of composites subjected to tensile and buckling tests, degradation of composites aged in salt water, destructive effects of saltwater on matrix and fibers were evaluated with SEM images. GNP additive increased the tensile strength, strain and modulus of elasticity values by strengthening the fiber-matrix interface interaction in basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) and glass fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) hybrid composites. Considering the buckling behavior, it was observed that the GNP contribution increased the critical buckling load. When looking from the direction of the different sequences, it was seen that the (B)15 combination had the best mechanical values. On the other hand, in the aging effects in saltwater, it was observed that the barrier effect of the GNP additive and the GNP added composites absorb less water.
