Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effectiveness of the methods used to increase the corrosion resistance of steel structural elements was investigated, and the effect of GFRP, CFRP and BFRP reinforcement on the load bearing capacity of S 235 quality steel box profiles that were exposed to different degrees of mass corrosion damage was investigated. Steel carrier systems are highly preferred systems in the sector due to their high bearing capacities and ductile behavior. Bearing capacities of steel elements can be damaged as a result of environmental factors. Corrosion damage, which is the most important damage, causes serious decreases in carrying capacities. Mass losses occur in steel structural elements with the corrosion mechanism. With the resulting mass losses, the service life, bearing capacity and strength of the elements are reduced. Corrosion resistance and strengthening of S 235 quality steel box profiles, corrosion protection and corrosion detection methods in steel structural elements were investigated. With the experimental setup, the change in load carrying capacity of S 235 steel box profiles exposed to accelerated corrosion at different corrosion degrees by mass was investigated. The corrosion rate was followed by the Faraday equation. Subsequently, 10% and 20% corroded box profiler by mass is reinforced with GFRP, CFRP, BFRP. The effect of reinforcement on the bearing capacity of the reinforced profiles under axial compression and bending forces was investigated. According to the findings obtained in the study, reinforcement with CFRP increased the strength by 17.78% under the compressive force in case of 10% damage, while it increased by 34.43% under the bending force. Strengthening with BFRP and GFRP has increased the bearing capacity of the profiles under the effect of bending. As a result of the study, it was observed that the reinforcement with CFRP was effective in the pressure elements and beam elements in case of corrosion damage. It has been observed that reinforcement with BFRP and GFRP will increase the bearing capacity of beam elements. The energy dissipation capacity of beam elements reinforced with BFRP has been successful compared to orher reinforcement types.
