Özet (EN)

The main purpose of the protection phenomenon; It is to convey the cultural property, which is the common value of humanity, to the next generations as original as possible. There are various methods to achieve this goal, which may vary according to the protection status of each structure. Restoration is only one of these methods, and it is the case where the intervention to the cultural property, like an operation, is at the highest level. Like any operation, it has risks and one should be cautious. In order to protect against these risks, the concept of "efficiency" has been applied. Efficiency here refers to the preservation of the original values of cultural assets by concluding conservation and restoration practices as little as possible in order to reduce operational risks. The aim of the study is to investigate the positive effects of the use of alternative or supportive innovative methods to traditional approaches in the restoration of structures that require protection and are in danger of extinction. In order to reveal this potential, it is based on the hypothesis that more efficient results can be obtained by choosing an approach that makes use of interdisciplinary interaction in architectural restoration studies. In this way, there is a prediction that the use of innovative approaches in conservation and restoration can have a positive impact. In the study, the evaluation method, which was developed based on the restoration theory and efficiency approach, was analyzed over five examples selected from Turkey and abroad. These works chosen as examples for the case analysis are the Reichstag Parliament Building from Germany, Siponto Basilica from Italy, the Bad Hersfeld Monastery from Germany, Esma Sultan Mansion from Istanbul, the Kesik Minare from Antalya, which share their pre-restoration state of being in ruins. In the study, it has been revealed that effective results can be obtained if traditional and innovative approaches are combined with a regular and transparent management in the restoration processes of these structures, which have similar protection status before the intervention, otherwise effective results cannot be obtained.
