A research for crakle and crawling glazes

Just as the other artistic glaze varieties, crackle glaze and crawling glaze which are known as artistic glaze gained importance as the studies in the field of art increased. They add value to the ceramic wares on which they are applied. The most important characteristics of artistic glazes are texture and color. These characteristics of texture and color, which may occur randomly, may be used as own characteristic of glaze. They are hardly used on industrial wares.Crackle glazes and crawling glazes which are generally considered glaze errors being used for artistic purposes in ceramic products and, as a result, increasing their value serves the purpose of the thesis study conducted. A detailed resource research was materialized in the production of crackle and crawling glazes and in accordance with this information, studies that covered special glaze trials were carried out in the laboratory environment according to their types. As a result of these studies, the determination of description, categorization and reasons of occurrence is ensured.
