A group of statues from Kremna and their place in Roman sculpture of Anatolia

Kremna, one of the cities of Pisidia Region, is located within the borders of Hacıbağ Neighborhood of Çamlık Village in Bucak district of Burdur Province. Although many researchers conducted travels, surveys and epigraphic studies in the city, the first and only official excavation was carried out in the Q building in 1970 under the direction of J. Inan. Until this time, many illegal excavations were made by the people living in the region, and most of the statues that make up our subject were found in this way and sold to the museum. When the museum inventory and the report of the rescue excavation carried out in the city are examined, twelve statues can be considered as found in the city. The artifacts in question are the statues of Heracles, Apollo, Nemesis, Leto, Asklepios, Hygieia, Dressed Woman, Athena (2) and Tyche, which are reported to have been found in the structure called "Q Building", as well as Artemis and Torso of Charis, whose location is unknown. Among these statues, only the Tyche was found during the rescue excavation and scientifically documented. Within the scope of the study, typological, iconographic and stylistic analysis and dating suggestions of the statues were made. Before the thesis, the statues introduced to the scientific world as the subject of different publications, but now they have been examined together for the first time and analyzed as a whole. Through a detailed re-examination, new typological and dating suggestions have been made for some of the statues. As a result of the stylistic evaluations and comparisons we have made, it has been suggested that the sculptures were produced in the Hadrianic Period and the Late Antoninus Period, and it was possible to follow the stylistic features and development of the sculptures of the city in this date range. In addition to these artifacts that we have mentioned, there are also statues that are associated with the city but are preserved in foreign museums. Among these examples, the most mentioned ones are the statuettes in the "Getty Museum" and "Boston Museum of Fine Arts". Within the scope of the thesis, firstly, catalog information was given for these statues, and then suggestions were made by evaluating the technical and stylistic features in the light of publications about them. Unfortunately, since the artifacts were unearthed by unscientific methods and taken abroad illegally, it is not possible to determine their connection with the city definitively. However, due to the fact that they were mentioned with Kremna, they were evaluated within the scope of the thesis and the problems related to the find place were mentioned.
