The regulatory role of organizational climate on the decision making behaviors of managers in crisis times: A research in the ground handling industry

The aviation sector is one of the sectors most affected by the crises that occurred due to its structure. During crisis periods, the organizational structures of the enterprises and the decision-making systems preferred by the managers can determine dimension of businesses affected by the crisis. In this context, the main purpose of this study is to reveal whether the organizational climate has a regulatory effect on the relationship between crisis periods and decision making behavior in ground handling services in the aviation sector. In this context, the relations revealed by examining the crisis periods, organizational climate and decision making behavior literature in depth were tested through a questionnaire applied to the managers of ground handling companies operating in Antalya Airport, Turkey. In this study, a relational screening model was used, which aims to determine the existence of co-variance between two or more variables. According to the findings obtained as a result of the study, positive significant effects were found between crisis periods, organizational climate and decision making behavior in ground handling businesses. In addition, it has been determined that organizational climate has a regulatory effect on the effect of managers on decision making during crisis periods. This research is unique in terms of creating a positive organizational climate of ground handling companies, improving the crisis management skills of managers working in businesses and increasing the level of positive decision making behavior.
