Abstract (EN)

This documentary project has been filmed in order to remind us of the neglect, the devastation and the suffering that has lasted until today for the sake of financial gain or benefit after the 1999 Golcuk Earthquake and to ensure that it is never forgotten. The footages of the event and interviews with Emine Cebeci and Nilgun Karamert, witnesses of the earthquake, revealed that the earthquake caused a lifelong quest and desperation.By acknowledging the fact that Turkey is a country on the earthquake zone, it is aimed to draw attention to the fact that negligence, not earthquakes, leads to disasters and to raise awareness. Along with this project, the families described the pain caused by the earthquake and the dangers it could pose. People who experienced the disaster said no measures had been taken against the massive Istanbul earthquake or other natural disasters expected to occur in Turkey in the future. Turkey is an earthquake country and if this situation is ignored and necessary measures are not taken, hundreds of thousands of people could die, millions could be injured and thousands could lose their families in a major earthquake.
