Didactic values and saying essence in the stories of the Forty Viziers

ABSTRACT DIDACTIC VALUES AND SAYING ESSENCE IN THE STORIES OF THE FORTY VIZIERS ÖZLEK, Emine Post Graduate, İnönü University, Institute of Education Sciences Department of Turkish Language Thesis Advisor: Prof.Dr. Hasan KAVRUK June 2014, Page This study aims to define the educational values given in the Stories of the Forty Viziers written by Şeyh-zâde Ahmet Mısrî in the 15th century of Ottoman Empire as a prose story style and to determine how these values are transferred, to find the contributions of the saying essence in the stories to the Turkish language teaching and explain how Turkish language is used by taking the nouns and verbs from a story chosen. Firstly, the stories have been summarized from the Stories of the Forty Viziers in the study done according to the qualitative/descriptive research model and then it has been separated into episodes and the messages desired to transfer in the texts have been defined. The messages defined have been examined by classifying into general headings. The findings have been paraphrased by abiding to the texts; a descriptive analysis technique has been used by displaying dramatic results with implementing or not implementing the values. As a result of putting the texts to the content analysis, it has been defined how and why the values are implemented and how Turkish language teaching is carried out by the usage of saying essence in the same way. The verses, hadiths, cliché statements, patterns, proverbs, idioms and handiadyoin used in the texts have been taken to display the saying essence of the work and the nouns taken from a story chosen have been given in four main headings and the verbs have been classified according to their structures. In consequence of the study, the contributions of the passages placed in Stories of The Forty Viziers to the language teaching have been discussed. Based on 7882 numbered manuscript of Stories of the Forty Viziers in the British Library as study material, it has been defined that it is a proper resource for values training and rich in saying essence for Turkish language teaching (for developing language skills).
