Abstract (EN)

Our study determined the sarcopenia status of patients who applied to the Department of Internal Medicine, Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Faculty of Medicine, Nephrology outpatient clinic, through analyzes such as SPPB, TUGT, HANDGRIP, BIA and the SarQol questionnaire, and also determined the frequency of sarcopenia in these patients with their sociodemographic characteristics, laboratory values, sarcopenia with PCO serum levels. aimed to scan the relationship. 126 patients were included in the study; These patients were informed about the voluntary informed consent form. The blood and urine tests of the patients were examined through the hospital system and statistical analysis was made along with the survey and measurement results. In our study, it was observed that the frequency of sarcopenia increased in the patient group diagnosed with CKD compared to the control group, and sarcopenia tests deteriorated at a statistically significant level as the CKD stage progressed. A significant relationship was found between age, gender, comorbidities (HT, DM, CAD, HL), BMI, diuretic use status and the frequency of sarcopenia, and alcohol use showed a negative correlation in our study. SPPB, TUGT, HANDGRIP, SMMI analyzes used in the analysis of patients diagnosed as sarcopenic showed a strong positive correlation. The total score of the SarQol questionnaire used was found to be higher in the healthy control group than in both the sarcopenic and nonsarcopenic CKD groups. In terms of laboratory tests, albumin, HGB and vitamin D values were found to be lower in the sarcopenic group compared to the control and nonsarcopenic CKD groups; K, phosphorus and PTH were found at higher values. Again, when our study was evaluated in terms of the effects of the presence of CKD, it was found to be significant in terms of SPPB, TUGT, HANDGRIP, SarQol values. Protein carbonyl level was positively correlated with age and NLR, and lymphocyte count was negatively correlated. In conclusion; Sarcopenia is an important preventable health problem with increasing frequency in the CKD patient group secondary to oxidative stress, and patients should be evaluated for sarcopenia. Oxidative stress biomarkers can be used in prediction and strategies can be created based on this pathway in treatment.
