Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT INVESTIGATION OF SERUM COPEPTIN LEVEL IN CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE DISEASES Chronic Kidney Disease is a chronic disease which occurs with different pathophysiological causes and is associated with abnormal renal function, characterized by a progressive decrease in Glomerular Filtration Rate.Copeptin is a newly discovered hormone and is the C-terminal part of the pre-pro-vasopressin of Arginine Vasopressin neurohormone. We aimed to investigate serum copeptin levels in patients with stage 3 and 4, 5 (End-Stage Renal Failure, Hemodialysis patients) chronic kidney disease in our study. Thirty patients with stage 3, 4, and Hemodialysis patients chronic kidney disease who were referred to the nephrology clinic were included in the study, and 30 control groups were created from patients who did not medically have any medical problems for routine checkup purposes. Glomerular Filtration Rate of patients was calculated by collecting 24-hour urine. 5 ml blood samples were taken from the patients in the control group and stage 3, 4 and Hemodialysis patients chronic kidney disease and the protease inhibitor-containing (aprotinin) tubes were taken as previously described. The samples were centrifuged at 3500-4000 rpm for 5-10 minutes and then taken up to eppendorf tubes and stored at -80 degrees centigrade. After all biological samples were collected, ELISA was used as described in the manufacturer's catalog. SPSS 21 package program was used for statistical analysis. One way variance analysis (ANOVA) was used in the comparison between groups, Duncan test was used as a post hoc test in binary comparisons. In conclusion, we concluded in our study that the level of copeptin was not statistically significant between the control group and stage 3-4 patients group; p <0.05 when compared between Hemodialysis patients and other groups, suggesting that copeptin levels are significant between these other groups.
