Abstract (EN)
This research was applied as a definer in order to determine the quality of life of the patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases lying in Social Insurance Professional Thoracic Illnesses Hospital and the relationship between the quality of life and socio-demographic varieties and the varieties depend on the illness. 60 patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases who had suitable peculiarity and who lied in the hospital in January and February were taken as samples. Two form were used to collect the data. The fist form was prepared by the researcher examining the literature concerned with the subject. This form consisted of the socio-demographic characteristic of the inviduals and the variations depend on the illness. The second form is the quality of life scale called SF-36 which was developed and adapted to our county by Pınar to measure the quality of life. While the depended variety of the research is the point obtained from the life scale, the independent varieties are socio-demographic peculiarity and varieties connected with the illness The Variant analyses, Tukey's B test, t-test and correlation analyses were used to appraise the data obtained. According to the research resulths, 57 (%95) people out of 60 who took part in the research got 50 or less than 50 points from the quality of life scale, 3 people (%5) got point between 51-70. The highest point to obtained in the quality of life scale is 100. According to this, the quality of life points of the patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases were very low. It was determined that age dose not have an effect on the functional condition, the state of goodness, the general health and the total quality of life where as only sex has formed difference in the points of the state of goodness but not in the other three sections. The education state of the patiens, the length of working year and martial status did not affect their quality points. Althought when the patients' quality of life points were examined according to their occupations, not a meaningful difference could be found statistically between the functional condidions, the general health and the total quality of life, a meaningful difference was found in the state of goodness. According to the result of Tukey's B test made to find out which group cauesed this difference, it was determined that there was a meaningful difference between the retired and farmers.According to the result of the research, it is understood that the more the number of the patients to be lying in hospital and the longer period of the illness, the lower their quality of life points are. According to results of correlation analyses made to determine the relationship between the lower dimension of the quality of life of the patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases and the total quality of life points, a positive and statistically meaningful relation was found between the functional condition, the state of goodness, the general health and tha total quality of life of the inviduals. Depending on the results of the research, some suggestions were give to the nurses with the aim of helping to rise the quality of the patient and their families.
