Assessment of womens social position in rural area: The case od hizan

Although there are legal regulations on women's rights in our country as well as in the world, various problems have been experienced in the internalization and adaptation of these laws to life, and as in many other issues, women have not been able to benefit from the rights given socially enough. The value judgments fostered by the patriarchal cultural structure and gender inequality can pave the way for the formation of various limitations in women's access to their rights. In this context, the aim of the study is; The aim of this study is to examine the ways in which women living in rural areas evaluate their social status and the factors affecting their social rights within the framework of social work discipline. The study was designed in the phenomenological research design in the qualitative research method. In this context, the study group of the research consists of 20 female participants over the age of 18 who live in the Hizan District of Bitlis province, who can express themselves and who volunteer to participate in the research. The data obtained from the in-depth interviews conducted through the semi-structured interview form created by the researcher were analyzed based on the phenomenological data analysis method. As a result of the research, it was determined that women could not benefit from education, health and employment opportunities adequately; It was concluded that participation in business life and access to the right to education are important for women to participate in decision-making processes on their own lives and to prevent various problems they may experience.
